What if failure wasn't an option?

Romans 15 - The Message

1-2 Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, "How can I help?"

So this got me thinking (I know scary),  what if failure was not an option? What if when you wanted to just give up you couldn't? What if you were so weak you didn't think you could go on, but somehow you did?

I've been challenged recently to not expect failure, in my life or more importantly someone else's. Can you imagine a world where people are encouraging each other to succeed, not expecting failure?

This is what I think my life would look like:
  • I would believe in the dreams of others and look how I could be a support to them.
  • I would let people know when I'm scared to death of failing, because they would be able to support me and push me to finish.
  • I wouldn't assume someone had ulterior motives, I would let them help.
  • I wouldn't be so quick to judge a situation, but would just say "what can I do?"
This would change our world. To me this is the essence of the body of Christ. So I encourage you today to push against the norm of selfish ambition and self loathing. If you are strong and have faith; use it. If you are a little wobbly let someone help.

Banchy - A wild creature with snarly brown hair that is excessive in all its activities.

For those of you that know me; you know I don't sleep much (hence the name of the blog). The above picture is a very accurate depiction of what I felt like this morning as Derrick's blankety, blank, blank, blank alarm went off at 4am. So what do I do; try to go back to sleep FAIL. Then he leaves and puts the dogs in the kennel; our new little bundle of joy (please hear the deep sarcasm) decides that he's going to cry - I'm screaming from the bedroom NO! Now as I'm writing this I'm laughing b/c there is great humor to be found in this whole situation. All I can say is "Hold on world; here comes the banchy"!

Waiting isn't always a bad thing

wait [weyt] verb
1.to remain inactive or in a state of repose, as until something expected happens
2. to be available or in readiness
4.to postpone or delay something or to be postponed or delayed
5.to look forward to eagerly
...6.to continue as one is in expectation of; await
7.to postpone or delay in expectation
8. to be in readiness for; be reserved for; await
9. to attend upon or escort, esp. as a sign of respect

Derrick and I were talking last night about how we both just have an overwhelming sense of peace right now. It's kind of hard to explain, but it's like everything going on just doesn't matter as much anymore. I feel like we have finally come to the place of true waiting. Before I fought it so hard; I was stressed, couldn't sleep, was worried about my job, and not satisfied with anything. Now, as we know that we could possibly be pregnant next year; it's like are priorities are shifting. Our priorities are God, each other, then everything else will be ok; it will happen with or without us because we are making ourselves available "Waiting"!

I have undervalued the peace that comes with true waiting for way too long.

Great ways to save money....

I love the magazine REAL SIMPLE. They had a great article with all kinds of ideas on how to save money. Below are some links that I think are worth looking into:

www.missingmoney.com
This really works; my dad got a check for $153.

http://www.lastminutecruises.com/
We have never taken a cruise, but if we do we will definitely use this site.

www.farecompare.com
Great for last minute get-away's(yeah like we all actually just jump on a plane and go HAHAHA) and also to make sure you're getting the best deal.

This was not in the magazine, but it is one of my fav's. You have to have a free membership, but for the online shopper this is fabulous. I found tank tops that I really needed for $1.99. Love this site!

Sneaky, Sneaky Starbucks

Favorite Drink
Short Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte

(Espresso, steamed nonfat milk and sugar-free cinnamon dolce flavored syrup)
60 Calories

Believe it or not you can order a "short" at Starbucks. Here in Russellville they do not even have it on the menu. I learned this little trick of the trade through a good friend. Yes, I understand I'm paying an ungodly amount for coffee, but not the calories! And Yes, I realize everyone probably already knows this and I'm acting like I'm the first one to discover The Americas!

The Sleepless Journey

I've recently spent countless hours trying to sleep. I've watched every episode of any TV show that I like, tried to research countless websites, and find just the right pair of shoes on Ebay (ok, honestly more than just shoes). So I get the bright idea (brilliant if I do say so myself) to start being productive in these late night hours. Now my version of productive and yours may be completely different. I wish that I could say I put my sleepless time into cleaning my house and cooking, but that's just a secret aspiration I wouldn't dare share with my husband! This blog will be used as an opportunity for me to share all of my late night thoughts, interesting websites, new ways to save money, quotes that I think are hilarious, favorite moments from my day, etc.

I've been married just over 3 years and my husband works a crazy schedule. I'm home a lot at night alone (note to any future stalker) so it's hard for me to "gear down" and actually go to sleep. The ambien cr and others just don't seem to be working.
As of right now we do not have children, but are in the process of making that happen hence the name of the blog. I'm not a baby mama yet, but hopefully soon!

There are very serious things in life, but I am bent on making most of them as funny as possible. I have to laugh! Lately, laughter is what has kept my sanity and allowed me to keep living amongst the all the pressures of life especially the lack of sleep.

Below is a recent photo of Derrick and I in New York last week (don't we look like tourists)!
